Ver o Mar

Uvita, Puntarenas

2024

This architectural concept envisions a modern tropical retreat seamlessly integrated into Costa Rica’s lush coastal landscape. Designed to embrace its breathtaking ocean views, the residence features an open-plan layout that maximizes natural ventilation, daylight, and a direct connection to the surrounding environment. Expansive glass facades, shaded terraces, and overhanging roofs provide a harmonious balance between indoor and outdoor living, ensuring comfort in the tropical climate.

Natural travertine walls add a timeless elegance to the design, offering both durability and a refined aesthetic that complements the surrounding landscape. These textured surfaces enhance the home’s organic feel, blending seamlessly with the locally sourced wood and stone used throughout the structure.

Nestled near a dense palm tree plantation, the residence is enveloped by a lush natural canopy that enhances privacy and provides a serene, tropical atmosphere.

Song: Ver o Mar - Joao Erbetta

A sanctuary of modern luxury.

At the heart of this project lies a dramatic double-height space enclosed by travertine-clad walls—a sculptural void that serves as the home’s central gesture. Spanning above it, a light bridge connects private areas of the house, creating a sense of suspension and contrast within the grounded, stone-clad volume.

Bathed in natural light, a handcrafted chair anchors the space with quiet elegance. Its sculpted wood form echoes the textures of the surrounding landscape. Set against the backdrop of expansive ocean views, the piece speaks to the home's spirit: refined simplicity, artisanal detail, and a seamless connection between interior craft and the coastal horizon beyond.
